Mr Watson joined the insurance industry in 1979 specialising in the areas of energy, resources and construction. He has specialised in mining industry insurance since 1986 involved with a wide range of mining projects both in Australia and elsewhere in the world. He has designed, developed and serviced insurance programmes for gold, nickel, alumina, tantalum, mineral sands and copper projects.
His work in the arena of energy insurance commenced in 1989 and included a secondment to London in 1991. Neil has been responsible for the design, placement and ongoing management of insurance programmes for energy risks onshore and offshore Australia and internationally and has experience with insurance programmes for FPSO operations.
He has also practised as a risk management consultant within an international insurance broking firm and through this together with his external study has a strong understanding of business risk management.
